Ernie and Jack on a patrol up towards the An Lao valley sitting next to an old abandoned pagoda. Note pockmarks all over. VC would use these as ambush sites for local ARVN militia troops because of the superstitution factor, haunted, holy, full of malignant spirits.

Doc Tisor in the inner SF perimemter making out reports or requisitions. See the sand bag wall behind him? This is the wall you can’t see from the air picture Buck took.

This was a 1st Cav CH 54 (Sky Crane) bringing in the 2d Bde TOC in what was called a “people pod”. Sure don’t kniow if anybody was in it but their TOC was ready to operate as soon as it touched down. It also had such a huge downwash from the rotor blades that it set off every trip flare we had in the concertina on that side of camp - which made Joe extremely happy(?) as it was his job to replace them.

Buck took this and it looks like Daffy, Ski, Doc Tisor, and Rudy have just finished chow ‘cause Doc has either tea or lemonade in his hand.

Joe and Jack next to our old 21/2 ton that was used for everything. Joe and Bucky hired work crews from the local hamlets every morning and Jack helped them screen them. Jack was also real savvy when it came to engineer/construction work so he usually spent his days working for Joe.

Doc, little Buu and Rudy in front of the last project Joe built. Doc had been trying to talk Joe into this for months and it finally paid off with Club Au Go Go finished up less than a month before we rotated. Buu was our little Montngard orphan, but that’s ‘nuther story, nuther time’.
